After reading "Some Heroin User Insight for all the Mom's who don't know" on the DHAM site: http://daughterheroinaddictsmoms.blogspot.com/ I don't know what to think about the drug tests I gave my daughter and her boyfriend recently. The drug test listed opiates, marijuana and several other drugs... it was negative for opiates, positive for marijuana-nothing else. Confused.

Glad to hear your daughter doesn't have a heroin problem..I run a website for people who have problems with marijuana at myMarijuana Addiction Blog
It may be helpful for you or your daughter to view the information on the site. It must be scary to be a parent in this situation.
It sort of depends on the drug test. And, remember, heroin is only detectable for 72 hours on a drug test. Additionally, depending on the sensitivity of the test used, the half life of heroin can make a drug test show negative only 12 hours after use.
It's difficult at best. The best and only thing i have relied on is
junkie behavior.
if it smells like a junkie, acts like a junkie, nods off like a junkie, then it's probably a junkie.
:::shrug::::
then again, she could actually be clean. that is the dichotomy we all face as mothers and why we say...
DO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR KEEPING YOUR CHILD CLEAN. DO NOT HAVE THEM LIVE IN YOUR HOME. YOU WILL ONLY GO INSANE.
Last night was very busy, I was actually talking while answering your blog. Sorry.
I think for you there are several issues.
One, your daughter is young and to put her out on the street will be hard.
two. she DID pass the test. I do question a little the fact that they thought it was sort of funny? That doesn't seem right.
Again, you need to go with your gut feeling. In the past 9 years, i have been wrong a number of times on things, but when my 'gut' told me my daughter was using, (while on methadone, while on suboxone, while on nothing at all supposedly).....EVERY single time, without fail, my 'gut' turned out to be right.
So the only advice I have is 'go with your gut mom feelings'.
Best of luck and prayers to you.
